An Indian woman found her mother in Pakistan through social media 20 years after she went missing

  3. His sister says the family recognized him when he gave the names and addresses of family members correctly.

Social media is a place that sometimes surprises and has once again proved beneficial to mankind as it helped a woman find her mother 20 years after losing her.

Yasmeen Sheikh, a resident of Mumbai, India, said she lost her mother when she went to work as a cook in Dubai but never returned.

"I came to know about my mother after 20 years through a Pakistan-based social media account that posted a video," said Yasmeen.

"She used to go to Qatar often for 2 to 4 years but this time she went with the help of an agent and never came back. We tried to trace her but all efforts went in vain as we could not even file a complaint. That we had no proof,” added the Indian woman.

He further revealed that the family used to meet the agent and ask about the mother, to which the agent would tell us that our mother was fine and did not want to have any contact with us.Yasmeen said her mother Hamida Banu said in the video that the agent told her not to tell anyone the truth.


He further said that 'it was only after the video came and reached us that we came to know about his stay in Pakistan, otherwise we did not know whether he was in Dubai, Saudi or any other place'.

Bano's sister said that the family recognized him when he gave the correct name and address of the family.

He added that the family contacted the agent to trace Bano who reportedly escaped after some time.
