A Reddit user shared in a post that his co-worker was fired for being 20 minutes late to work for the first time in seven years.

The post was shared on an anti-work forum on Reddit. The man said he and all his coworkers would show up late to work until the man was rehired.

The user added that the current employees have decided to protest the move by turning up late until the person is reinstated, reports NDTV.

"Tomorrow, me and all my colleagues will be late and stay late until they hire him again," the post said. "A co-worker who has never been late in 7+ years is fired for being late for the first time..."

Reddit users sympathized with the fired co-worker. The most upvoted comment shared a similar experience.

"At my last job, I was late once in 6 years," commented a Reddit user. "I wasn't fired, but I had a hard time talking that day..."

The author of the subreddit post has since written an update.

"Mission accomplished because we spoke up about our concerns," he wrote.

The post has received over 78.9k votes.
